On Tuesday, May 21, from 6-8pm, Waldmann is hosting a special fundraiser benefiting the Minnesota Transportation Museum in its efforts to reconstruct the Justus Ramsey House at its site on Pennsylvania Avenue in Saint Paul. Originally built in 1854, this limestone cottage was on the National Register of Historic Places and was twice designated as a Saint Paul Heritage Designation before being removed from West 7th in February of 2022.
Overlooked by many was the fact that it housed generations of Black railroad porters and their families, and was located near the heart of the City’s earliest Black community. The MTM now seeks to tell that history, and we said we’d drink to that! So Waldmann is offering one free beer for every donation of $25.00 or more to MTM’s Justus Ramsey fund. And if that isn’t enough to lube your generosity, we;ve also donated a limited-edition copper etching of the Justus Ramsey House, vintage-framed by artist Stuart Loughridge ($500.00 value), which a $10 ticket buys a chance to win! So come Prost to history, and let’s help the Justus Ramsey House rise again! Drawing 8pm; you must be present to win.
Tuesday, May 21, 6 - 8 p.m. The outdoor Biergarten (i.e. patio) is open.
